The Chair Affair

Gabriola Arts Council Chair Affair

The Gabriola Arts Council assigned us with a task, take one of the old chairs from the WI (Womens Institute) hall and turn it into an art piece.  Sounded simple enough, but my chair had definitely seen it’s fair share of Gabriola derrieres, and collapsed as I loaded it into the car.  Randi, Jennifer and I all took the challenge and we ended up creating a few different pieces.  Randi and Jennifer used their chairs as canvases and created two stunning pieces.  I took the two wood pieces, grabbed some clock parts and created two clocks.  The 45 chairs will be auctioned off at a Gala at the Gabriola Community Hall on Saturday, Jan 31 at 7pm, although online viewing and bidding has already begun on the Gabriola Arts Council Website.
