Travel to Gabriola
Gabriola Island is located on Vancouver Island, off of Canada’s West Coast. If you are arriving from an international destination, you would book your flight to the Vancouver International Airport or Victoria International Airport. The Comox Valley Airport is also available for selected flights from the U.S. Air Canada offers connector flights from Vancouver to Cassiy Airport (situated 20 km south of Nanaimo). From Cassidy Airport you can rent a car, take a taxi or the Nanaimo Shuttle can take you to the Gabriola Ferry Terminal (160 Front Street).
Sea Plane to Gabriola Island or Nanaimo Harbour from Vancouver
Travel Time Approx 20min Tofino air offers flights from Vancouver International Airport south terminal to Silva Bay on Gabriola. Harbour Air & West Coast Air offer daily scheduled flights from Vancouver International Airport or Downtown Vancouver. Once arriving in Nanaimo, the Gabriola Ferry terminal (160 Front Street) is only a 5 minute stroll along the picturesque sea wall.
From Vancouver by Ferry
BC Ferries depart from Tsawwassen (South of Vancouver), and Horseshoe Bay (North of Vancouver) to Nanaimo. The Gabriola Ferry terminal is situated downtown Nanaimo, a short drive from either of these crossings. Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (travel time is approx. 1 hour & 35 minutes) Tsawwassen to Duke Point (travel time approximately 2 hours)
On Gabriola
Once you’re on Gabriola Island, drive up North Road from the ferry terminal. When you come to a “Y” in the road, turn left onto North Road. The first road on your right hand side will be Lochinvar, it’s a cedar sided building with a green metal roof. Our address here is #1-575 North Road.
Private Boat
There are several options when coming by boat to the island, whether sailing or motoring, moorage is offered in Silva Bay at Pages Resort Marina or Silva Bay. There is also the option of Degnen Bay which offers the opportunity to drop an anchor & the Government Dock is also located here, but make sure to check your tide charts as the entrance to Degnen Bay is from Gabriola Pass between Gabriola & Valdez Island & when the tides are changing the currents can be challenging.
